Kanye West is returning to the MTV Video Music Awards as a performer for the seventh time.

With his latest turn, West has ties up with Madonna for maximum performances on the award show. West, who made his VMA debut in 2004 with Chaka Khan, will perform his Yeezus track "Black Skinhead" at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, reported USA Today.

West, a three-time VMA winner, last performed in 2011. The singer made his most famous appearances when he crashed the stage during a Taylor Swift acceptance speech to rave about Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' video, saying, "Yo, Taylor, I'm'a let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time", leaving a stunned Swift speechless.

MTV will show the VMAs live on August 25 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Lady Gaga already has been announced as a performer, and Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead all nominees with six each.
