Kapil Dev, one shot off the lead after two rounds, faltered in the third and final round to finish 13th at the Asia Pacific Senior Amateur Championship at Discovery Bay Golf Club here.
Kapil, who played wonderfully on first two days for rounds of 73 and 72, shot nine-over 80 at the par-71 course and ended at 12-over 225.
Japan's Shingo Matsumoto emerged victorious after outlasting Andrew McKechnie of New Zealand in a gruelling sudden-death play-off.

Overnight leader Gordon Claney of Australia finished a shot outside the play-off in solo third place.
Kapil was tied fifth after the first round of 73 but his second round 72 put him in second place at three-over 145 and he was one behind then leader Gordon Claney. But he misfired in the final round.
