The Indian quartet had a disappointing start at the D+D Real Czech Masters in the first round even as Shiv Kapur was the best placed in tied 52nd place with a score of one-under 71 that included an eagle 2 on par-4 fourth.

SSP Chawrasia had a birdie hat-trick from 10th to 12th but he also had four bogeys and another birdie for an even par 72, and Gaganjeet Bhullar also shot even par 72.

Jeev Milkha Singh struggled with a round of 76. Chawrasia and Bhullar were tied 77th and Jeev further down.

Kapur, who started on the 10th birdied the 16th, but had bogeys on either side on 15th and 17th. Then he had an eagle on fourth and parred the rest of the holes on the front nine. Chawrasia had four birdies and four bogeys.

Meanwhile, a stunning eagle at the 18th handed Eduardo de la Riva a share of the first round lead. After reaching the turn in 34, the Spaniard dazzled on the back nine, firing birdies on the 10th, 11th and 12th before closing his round with an eagle at the last to join playing partner Renato Paratore at the top of the leaderboard.

De la Riva bounced back from a bogey at the second with three gains in six holes as he covered the front nine in 34. The 33-year-old picked up three shots in a row after the turn and safely parred the next five holes to head to the 18th on five-under par.

Paratore, 18, carded seven birdies on his way to a flawless 65, his best score on The European Tour to date.

Early clubhouse leaders Matt Fitzpatrick and Sam Hutsby sit a shot further back on six-under alongside Pelle Edberg and Thomas Pieters.
