Karan Johar to co-produce Dhyan Chand's biopic

Filmmaker Karan Johar will co-produce a biopic on the life of hockey legend major Dhyan Chand.

The late Olympic-winner is considered as the greatest field hockey player of all time. Johar took to Twitter to announce that he has acquired the rights to make the biopic.

"My friends Pooja... Aarti Shetty and I are honoured and proud to have the rights to tell the story of the legendary sportsman Dhyanchand..." the director tweeted.

Recently a biopic on Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni, titled 'MS Dhoni - The Untold Story', was announced. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput will play Dhoni in the film, to be directed by Neeraj Pandey.
 

Life of Indian athletes like Paan Singh Tomar, Milkha Singh and Mary Kom have also been brought to the big screen in the form of biopics.
