Karna govt to hold international trade fair on organics

Karnataka governments is organising an International Trade Fair on Organics and Millets-2018 here from January 19 to 21 next year with an intentionto provide platform for farmers, buyers, sellers and exporters of organic produce and millets.

It will also provide an opportunity for farm equipment manufacturers to showcase their products and expertise in an emerging area which could become a pillar of the country's food security, a release said.

Karnataka Agriculture Minister Krishna Byre Gowdatoday unveiled the new website and logo of international trade fair, scheduled to be held at Palace Grounds here.

Karnatakaa's was the first of its kind initiative in the country to create awareness about the organics and millets from the government's side, he said.

Earlier, Department of Agriculture had organised roadshows in different parts of the country as a precursor to the fair which aims to take the 'Organic and Millet' message to the rest of the world.

In Karnataka, organic and millet farmers have been organised into 14 regional federations, which produces a wide-ranging variety of organic and millet crops, and this trade fair provides an easy platform to connect with this wideproducer base.
