Around 57 per cent of the electorate in Uttarakhand's Karnaprayag Assembly constituency cast their votes till 5 PM, the state election office said here today.

Apart from Deputy Speaker Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri, who is the sitting Congress MLA, BJP's S S Negi, BSP's Jyoti Kanwasi, UKD's Balwant Singh Negi, CPI(ML)'s Indresh Maikhuri and four Independents are trying their luck from the seat which has 91,849 voters.

Rain and snowfall was predicted in the hill district of Chamoli where the Assembly constituency is located but the weather remained largely pleasant.

Polling to the seat had to be rescheduled due to the death of BSP candidate Kuldeep Singh Kanwasi in a road accident on February 12, just three days before polling was slated in Uttarakhand.

Consequently, polling was held in 69 of the 70 seats in the state on February 15.
