Karnataka Higher Education and Tourism Minister R V Deshpande today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing an IIT in the state and including Hampi in the heritage sites list in the Union Budget.
In his letter to Modi, Deshpande thanked the Prime Minister for the budget allocation to the projects and assured the state's support in both the endeavors.
He stated that the announcement of setting up the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the state has fructified a long pending dream of the people of Karnataka.

"This is really a dream come true," he said.
On the announcement for Hampi, a world heritage site, he
said, "The resource for development of Hampi heritage site would certainly improve the surrounding infrastructure facilities, thereby increasing the inflow of tourists from world wide to the site."
This would certainly result in local employment and development of economy, he added.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had made the announcements with regard to setting up of an IIT in Karnataka and development of Hampi in his budget speech on Saturday.
