Six persons allegedly barged into the chamber of city corporation (Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike) Chief Engineer N Devaraj on May 21 and threatened him with dire consequences if he refused to approve their applications under the Transfer of Development Rights (TDS) scheme.
Devaraj, handling the Project, Planning and Evaluation Division, said he did not heed their demands as he could not overrule the report on violations filed by the field officer who conducted a survey under the TDS scheme.
TDS is a compensation scheme offered to those who want to give up their property to help BBMP widen roads.
Devaraj said he reported the matter to Project Commissioner Niranjan the same day and the next day wrote a letter to him seeking installation of CCTVs in his chamber, which was approved.
Asked whether he had lodged a police complaint, Devaraj said he informed his higher official as he did not feel it was a police matter, "but administrative".
