Karnataka Government would soon bring in an amendment to the relevant act to give effect to the Central Land Acquisition Amendment Act, Revenue Minister Srinivasa Prasad said in the Assembly today.

Winding up the debate on the Revenue department, he said the proposed bill will be discussed and ratified in the Cabinet meeting.

The Central act seeks to provide fair and just compensation to farmers and to those who lose livelihood on account of acquisition.

He also said the government would look into the proposal of the previous BJP regime on formation of new taluks.

"We will look into the proposal made by previous government on formation of new taluks," he said.

He said the department will look into the cases of encroachment of government land in and around Bangalore and take all possible steps to evacuate the illegal owners.
