DMK chief Karunanidhi today ridiculed the ruling AIADMK for postponing the Global Investors Meet to September from May by citing summer season and asked if it will be deferred again as it could rain during that month.

"Was not the government aware that it would be summer during May when it announced the GIM before,"? he asked.

Tamil Nadu government yesterday postponed the two-day Global Investors Meet to September 9 and 10 here from May 23, 24 following request from overseas investors who sought more time to finalise projects.

"A strong feedback has been received from many foreign investors that the event may be held after the summer", the State had said and added that "considerable interest was shown in investing in Tamil Nadu during the roadshows done for the event."

Referring to this, Karunanidhi sarcastically asked if it was right to delay the meet when prospective investors had evinced keen interest in investing in the State.

"Will the meet be again postponed as it may rain during September,?" he asked.

"Is not the interest of the AIADMK regime in industrial growth understandable when it has postponed the investors' meet?," he posed.

Former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa last year announced that the government would conduct the meet in May 2015.
