DMK President M Karunanidhi today congratulated JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar for becoming Chief Minister of Bihar again, wishing that his stewardship would take the state towards growth and peace.

"On behalf of the DMK and myself, I convey my hearty congratulations to you on becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar after a gap of nine months," he said in a letter to Kumar.

"During your last tenure as Chief Minister there was tremendous development in Bihar. I wish your services to Bihar will definitely take the state towards further growth and peace," he said.

Kumar, who had resigned in the aftermath of JDU's debacle in the Lok Sabha elections last year, was sworn in as the 24th Chief Minister yesterday along with 22 ministers, ending days of political drama following a bitter power struggle with Jitan Ram Manjhi, whom he had handpicked to succeed him in May last.
