Karur tragedy: Bodies of victims brought to Mangaluru

The bodies of seven persons of a family from Kayyar in Kerala's Kasaragod district, who were killed in a road accident at Karur in Tamil Nadu in the early hours yesterday, were brought to the city today.

The bodies, which were brought in three ambulances, have been kept at Father Muller Hospital mortuary.

Seven members of a family, including a five-year-old girl, were killed when their car collided head-on with a lorry at Karur while they were returning after a visit to Velankanni.

The deceased were Allwyn Monteiro (29), Herald Monteiro (50), Sathurine Monteiro (37), Precilla (42), Reema (35), Rohit (22), and Sharon (5).
 

Three others, including a one-and-a half year old child, who were injured in the mishap, are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Karur.

MLC Ivan D'Souza, Kasargod Zilla Parishad members Harshad Varkady, Zulfikar Ali and others made the necessary arrangements here.

The bodies would be taken to Christ the King Church at Kayyar tomorrow for funeral, family sources said.
