Kashmir girl rescued, abductor held

A girl who was allegedly abducted by a man was rescued within 24 hours and the accused was arrested in Anantnag district of south Kashmir today.

"A written complaint was received from a person alleging that his daughter was kidnapped by Tawheed Ahmad Chopan of Paden village of Srigufwara yesterday," a police spokesman said.

He said police lodged a report and launched a hunt to trace the girl and arrest her abductor.

"After strenuous efforts, the girl was recovered from Srigufwara and the accused was arrested," the spokesman said, adding the girl was handed over to her parents after completion of legal formalities and a case was registered against Chopan.
