Kashmir remained cut off from the rest of the country for the second day today as the Srinagar -Jammu National Highway remained closed while air traffic to and from the city was yet to resume after snowfall yesterday.
"The Srinagar-Jammu highway is still closed as work to clear the snow is in progress," a traffic official told PTI. A decision on reopening the road would be taken only after the snow has been removed from the road, he added.
The 294-km stretch - the only all-weather road link between Kashmir and the rest of the country - was closed yesterday following snowfall across the Valley.
Air traffic remained suspended till 1200 hours today, but an official at Srinagar Airport said that the runway had been cleared and flights were expected to arrive in the afternoon.
