Kashmir set for smooth conduct of bypolls: Saxena

Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena today said arrangements are in the final stage for the smooth conduct of bypolls for Srinagar and Anantnag Lok Sabha constituencies on April 9 and 12, respectively.

"Arrangements are in final stage for the smooth conduct of elections for Srinagar and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies," Saxena said interacting with representatives of different political parties here.

Representatives of various parties interacted with the Deputy Election Commissioner including ruling Peoples' Democratic Party and BJP and opposition National Conference, Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, CPI (Marxist) and J&K National Panthers Party, an official spokesman said.

He said the representatives discussed matters related to Model Code of Conduct, location of polling booths, election expenditure and other issues with Saxena.
 

"Saxena gave a patient hearing to various issues raised by representatives of political parties and assured them that the concerns would be looked into by the EC," the spokesman said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer Shantmanu was also present in the meeting.
