Asia's largest tulip garden on the banks of Dal Lake here will have over three lakh more bulbs this season to welcome the visitors from next week.
The 15-hectare garden in the foothills of Zabarwan range will be thrown open on March 27 with over 1.5 million tulips of over 80 varieties in bloom - a scintillating view for the visitors, a spokesman of the floriculture department told PTI.
He said the department has added 3.24 lakh more bulbs of 24 new varieties this season to make the garden more attractive.
"The bulbs have been imported from Holland and have been introduced in the valley for the first time," he said adding the department is expecting a heavy rush of visitors this season compared to previous years.
The spokesman said the ticket charges for the visitors will remain the same as Rs 50 for adults and Rs 20 for children and the garden will remain open to the visitors for nine hours from 9.30 AM daily.
Formerly known as Siraj Bagh, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden was opened in 2008 by the then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who was the brain behind this floriculture marvel.
Tulips of all types and colours embellish the garden - the opening of which has preponed the tourist season in the valley as people from across the globe throng to Kashmir to see the garden.
