Kashmir University to resume classes after pupil's release

The Kashmir University will resume classes from tomorrow after they remained suspended for over a week, in the wake of the arrest of a student in connection with a militancy-related case.

Muzamil Farooq Dar, who was arrested last week by police, was released on bail by a court here today.

Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi expressed satisfaction over Dar's release.

He had been constantly pursuing the student's release with higher authorities ever since his arrest and also ensure his welfare, a spokesman of the varsity said.

The Vice Chancellor along with Head of the Department English also went to see Dar after his release, he said.
 

The classes at the university were suspended following violent protests by students at the varsity, demanding Dar's release.

The spokesman said classes shall resume at the Main Campus from tomorrow.
