Appreciating the University of Kashmir for strengthening pillars of higher education in the Valley during "difficult times", Union minister Tariq Anwar today assured the varsity administration of complete support for its various initiatives and expansion activities.

"The University has made huge strides in higher education despite facing difficult situation over the last 25 years. As a mark of gesture to commend the hard work, we will provide whatever support is possible for its various initiatives and expansion programs including the establishment of a residential coaching centre at the main campus," said the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries.

The minister, who visited the University on invitation of varsity Vice chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad, was interacting with the Deans of various faculties, Heads of the departments and senior faculty members.

Anwar said it is remarkable to note that the University of Kashmir has progressed a lot in its endeavour to provide higher education to the young generation of the Valley "and the platform it provides for employment of youth in various parts of the country and abroad is highly appreciating."

The Union minister said the expansion projects of the University requires support from all stakeholders so as to make sure that this institution of higher learning succeeds in achieving its targets in the region.

"We would take up the matter of supporting establishment of the residential coaching centre at the university's main campus with the relevant quarters in the central ministry.

"However, the other concerned organisations and forums working in higher education also have a role to play to help the University in its endeavour of reaching the students in far-flung areas of the state by supporting the establishment and strengthening of its satellite campuses," he added.
