The Panun Kashmir, an organisation of Kashmiri pandits, today joined various Dogra groups in demanding the roll back of the state government's move to create 49 assistant professor posts for teaching Kashmiri in the colleges of the Jammu region.

"The Panun Kashmir condemns the hegemonic decision of imposing Kashmiri in Jammu and demands the immediate cancellation of the order," its chairman Ajay Chrungoo said.

Several Dogra organisations had on Sunday staged a protest here against the government order, terming it as an "assault on dogra identity" and demanded its immediate revocation.

Chrungoo alleged that Kashmiri was being imposed in a selective manner in Jammu while nothing was being done for Dogri, Punjabi and other languages spoken in the state which "smacks of nefarious motivations and sectarian objectives".
