Kashmiri Pandit community's FM promoting its culture, language

The Kashmiri Pandit community's Radio Sharda 90.4 FM playing a pivotal role in showcasing and preserving their culture and language miles away from their homeland.

"We are preserving our mother tongue Kashmiri and the culture of the community away from our homeland," Director of Sharda Radio and president of Pir Panchal Ramesh Hangloo said here today.

Expressing commitment for preserving Kashmiri language among the state's people, he said that Radio Sharda had given the sense of belonging to its listeners all-round the globe, and that they were proud of the response from the listeners.

Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Mubrak Gul, who was the chief guest of the function, laid stress on the need for promotion of mother tongue among the people, and said the language was the identity of a community.
 

The Speaker was speaking at a function on the eve of World Radio Day, organised by Radio Sharda 90.4 FM, a community radio of NGO Pir Panchal.

Gul asked the members of Radio Sharda to involve more budding artists and cover more areas especially far-off and remote pockets of the state.
