The moderate Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, today expressed concern over the death of a Kashmiri youth in Hyderabad saying students outside Jammu and Kashmir were not safe.
"All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed serious concern over the mysterious death of student Mudasir Kamran in Hyderabad," said an amalgam spokesman here.
Kamran, aged 25, was found hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room last night. He was pursuing Ph.D. In English at English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.
Mirwaiz said "the death of Kamran highlights the fact that students and traders stationed outside Jammu and Kashmir are not safe."
"It is the responsibility of the Centre and respective state governments to ensure secure environment for Kashmiri students and traders," he said.
The Majlis Mashawarat, an amalgamation of several separatist groups, called for a complete shutdown in the Valley tomorrow to protest the death of Kamran.
It called for a march to Kamran's native village Parigam in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday for expressing solidarity with the bereaved family.
The Kashmiri diaspora living across the globe were also asked to protest outside Indian missions, the Majlis said in a statement here.
