Actress Kate Hudson says her girlfriends are one of her strongest foundations of support.

The 37-year-old star credited her friends Jennifer Garner and Reese Witherspoon for being there when she needs to talk, reported Female First.

"It's the importance of girlfriends. Guys don't really talk that much, you know what I mean? They like to hang out, and that's important too.

"But women, we need to talk it out, and my girlfriends have been one of my strongest foundations of support. You have to put as much effort into that as you do any other relationship. So it's fun. It's just really nice," Hudson said.

The "Almost Famous" star, who has Ryder, 12, and Bingham, five, from previous relationships, said she doesn't like to talk about her relationships for the sake of her kids.

"The reason I don't talk about anything like that is because I have kids. People ask that question as if, 'Oh yeah, it's really healthy to publicly talk about who I am or am not dating when I've got a tween.' (Ryder) can read, and he can hear. I'm not going to indulge in that kind of thing until there's someone in my life who I am introducing to my kids.
