Smith, 47, is playing the executive. Search was on for an actress in the key supporting role, and an earlier report said Rachel McAdams was close to securing the role. It is now being said that the McAdams casting was premature and Winslet, 40, was the one nearing the deal.
The movie also includes such cast as Edward Norton, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris. Keira Knightley is also in negotiations to join it. Production is slated to kick off in a few weeks in New York for a December 16 release.
