Katni collector, excise officer booked for fraud

Katni district collector has been booked by the state Lokayukta Police for allegedly misusing official position, causing a loss of Rs 6 crore to the state coffer, and shunted to the secretariat here.

Jabalpur unit of Lokayukta Police yesterday charged collector Prakash Jangre and district excise officer R C Trivedi with misusing their official positions in auctions of liquor outlets causing a loss of Rs 6 crore to the state exchequer, Lokayukta Police said.

Jangre was today shifted to Secretariat as deputy secretary, a Mantralaya official told PTI.

The two officers allegedly unduly favoured contractors during auction of liquor outlets in Katni for the current financial year, Lokayukta Police investigation officer Inspector Swapnil Das said.
 

The duo were booked under sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, and 420 (cheating) and 120 (B) (fraud) of the IPC, he added.
