Katy Perry thanks 'Left Shark' for Emmy nomination

Singer Katy Perry has thanked the 'dancing shark', which joined her on stage during her Super Bowl XLIX halftime performance, after she was nominated in the Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program category at the Emmy Awards.

The star was joined on stage by two backup dancers in shark costumes during one segment of the show with the groover to the singer's left entertaining fans across the world with his hilarious moves.

The 'Left Shark' has since become an internet sensation, with Katy now even selling merchandise linked to the character.

The 30-year-old "Dark Horse" hitmaker took to Twitter to praise the shark and express her happiness over the nomination.
 

"Woke up to my first Emmy nomination for the Halftime show!! V proud of everyone involved especially #leftshark (sic)," she tweeted.
