Katy Perry turned down USD 20 million 'American Idol' offer?

The show's producers were so keen to have the 27-year-old singer on board that they offered her the amount for a year-long contract, reported Us magazine.

"She was being hotly pursued. They really wanted her," a source said.

But Perry turned them down and executives continued their search to replace Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson for the new season.

In July, Mariah Carey was officially roped in to judge, accepting an USD 18 million pay, which made her the highest-paid judge on any music competition show.
