Kerala Congress (M) headed by veteran leader K M Mani and state's ruling CPI(M) today once again joined hands in Kottayam district panchayat to defeat a Congress nominee contested for the post of a standing committee chairperson.
KC(M) nominee in the district panchayat Sebastian Kulathumkal won the post of Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Development with the support of CPI(M) members in the voting.
He defeated Congress nominee Lisamma Baby.

"It is a big political betrayal by Mani and his son Jose K Mani," District Congress Committee (DCC) president Joshi Philip said condemning the steps taken by KC(M) in the district panchayat.
He alleged that Mani was playing the "game of hide and seek" with regard to his party's association with the CPI(M).
