Engineering firm KEC International today reported a 26.96 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 79.85 crore for the quarter ended March 31.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 62.89 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Total income for the quarter grew marginally to Rs 2,558.64 crore in the quarter from Rs 2,521.09 crore in the corresponding quarter.

For the fiscal year 2015-16, profit increased by 18.95 per cent to Rs 191.50 crore, while total income stood at Rs 8,516.33 crore, up from Rs 8,467.80 crore in the previous year.
During the year, the company booked orders worth Rs 8,714 crore and its order book stands at Rs 9,449 crore as of March 31. KEC secured new orders worth Rs 1,140 crore in April.
"We have consistently delivered a significant improvement in our margins over the last few successive quarters reflecting a strong performance in the face of challenging global headwinds," KEC International MD and CEO Vimal Kejriwal said.
The year's performance has seen a marked improvement in execution and operational capabilities, which together with a strong order book, has set the tone for a robust FY17, he added.
