AAP National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today took his anti- demonetisation pitch to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi, asserting that the measure was the "biggest scam of independent India".

"The demonetisation measure's objective of eliminating black money, corruption, fake currency and terrorism was neither fulfilled nor will it ever be," Kejriwal said at a rally here.

He said the measure to scrap 500 and 1,000 rupee notes is the "biggest scam of independent India" that has only created "chaos" everywhere.

"Note-bandi is a scam worth rupees 8 lakh crore to favour his industrialist friends and his party men," Kejriwal claimed.

He said people were dying due to standing in long bank queues and were committing suicide because of problems caused by the measure. These deaths are akin to murder, he said.

"At a time when there is chaos everywhere and businesses are suffering due to the demonetisation, Modiji was busy living a life of luxury, changing his clothes more than six times in a day and flying in big planes," he said.

Targeting BJP and Congress on the issue of funding, Kejriwal claimed the two parties accept black money in the form of cash, but unlike them, AAP accepts donations through cheque or internet banking.

He also attacked the BJP, saying the party belonged to neither Hindus nor Muslims, but comprised of people hungry for power and money.
