The Delhi BJP today demanded that the AAP government notifies 351 roads for commercial use and accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of "misleading" the traders over the ongoing sealing drive.
Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said a delegation of BJP legislators will meet Lt Governor Anil Baijal tomorrow in this regard.
Kejriwal today asked the Centre to bring an ordinance, if required, to protect properties of traders from getting sealed in the national capital.
He also offered to the Centre all cooperation from the Delhi government in stopping sealing drives being carried out by the BJP-led civic bodies since last month.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had in the last session of the Delhi Assembly had said the notification of 351 roads would be issued after MCDs furnished related files, Gupta said while claiming that the civic bodies have sent revised list of 351 roads to the government for notification.
"Now, Kejriwal is playing politics and misleading the traders by asking the Centre to bring an ordinance to save them from sealing," he alleged.
Amid the war of words between the AAP government and BJP that rules three municipal corporations in the city, traders observed 'Delhi Bandh' by keeping their shops shut to protest the sealing drive.
The BJP MLAs will call upon the Delhi Lt Governor tomorrow and urge him to direct the Delhi government to notify the 351 roads and waive the penalty for non-payment of conversion charge.
Conversion charges are realised by the municipal corporations for changing category of land use from residential to commercial and mixed use. A total of 2,550 roads were notified for commercial and mixed land use in 2006 but the 351 roads in question were left out.
