Kejriwal's support mere political: Hardik

Quota agitation leader Hardik Patel today termed as "political" Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's recent statement supporting him and said such remarks will make little difference to the Patidar community agitating for reservation in jobs and education.

"Kejriwal's support is political. It is not going to make any difference to the (Patidar) community. I am out here to serve the community...My bail hearing (in high court) is on June 9. May I get bail by God's grace so that I can work for the community," Hardik said.

The 22-year-old told this to reporters while he was being produced before a court at Visnagar near here in connection with a case lodged against him during the Patidar agitation last year.

Hardik is currently lodged in a jail in Surat and his bail plea is being heard by the Gujarat High Court. The quota spearhead is facing sedition and other charges linked to the reservation stir he headed last year that turned violent.

Kejriwal had recently come out in support of Hardik and criticised the BJP government in Gujarat for charging him with sedition.

"What is Hardik Patel's mistake? He raised his voice for Gujaratis and his community, he struggled for their rights? He never raised voice against India. He never supported forces trying to break the country," the Aam Aadmi party leader had said last week.
