Ker Govt to extend moratorium on repayment of fishermen loans

Kerala government today decided to extend the period of moratorium on repayment of loans taken by fishermen from various financial institutions till December 31, 2017.

A cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here took the decision as the period of moratorium on the recovery of their loans would be over by the end of this month.

The cabinet also decided to recommend to the Governor for the early release of three woman inmates of open-jail here, who are serving life imprisonment.

The treatment expenses of three ragging victims, who allegedly faced physical harassment and torture from senior students at the government polytechnic college in Nattakom, would be met from the Chief Minister's relief fund, it said.
 

The cabinet also decided to unify the bus fare in state-run Kerala Road Transport Corporation with that of private operators.
