Kerala government will submit a memorandum to the Centre seeking to reverse the recent decision to cut grants and subsidies for the fishing community, Fisheries Minister K Babu has said.
The state will convey its objection in a memorandum to be submitted to Union Agriculture Minister he said after laying the foundation stone for the Udayamperoor modernized fish market yesterday.
The Minister had earlier expressed his dissatisfaction over the Central government's move, among others, to cut the fund allocation for the development of coastal areas by the National Fisheries Development Board from 90 per cent to 40 per cent and to reduce kerosene allotment from the central pool.
Babu assured that the Udayamperoor modernized fish market, a project of the Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation, will be completed on time. The total outlay of the project is Rs 1.25 crore.
