Press Trust of India Thiruvananthapuram
Kerala Assembly today congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation on the successful launch of GSLV-D5 and joining the elite club of countries with home grown cryogenic technology.

In a special reference to the House, Speaker G Karthikeyan said this was a milestone in the country's space programme and its quest to scale new heights in science and technology.

He congratulated all those who worked hard to make this dream a successful reality.

The 49.13-metre tall GSLV D5 rocket with an indigenous cryogenic engine and stage blasted off at 4.18 PM from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre yesterday and injected the 1,982-kg GSAT-14 communication satellite into the intended orbit after 17.13 minutes flight.

India thus became the sixth space agency in the world after the US, Russia, Japan, China and France to have joined the indigenous cryogenic regime.
