Kerala bids adieu to theatre thespian

People from various walks of life gathered today to pay tribute to Kerala's theatre doyen Kavalam Narayana Panicker as his funeral was held with full state honours.

Panicker, 88, passed away in Thiruvananthapuram on June 26 after prolonged illness.

People gathered at his ancestral home in his native village Kavalam here to bid adieu to the thespian. His mortal remains were brought early this morning from Thiruvananthapuram for cremation.

Former Chief Minister Oommen chandy, actor Manju Warrier, Nedumudi Venu were among those, who paid their respects. Panicker's son Kavalam Sreekumar lit the pyre of his father.
