The event is being organised by the National Bio-diversity Council with the co-operation of corresponding state level bodies, central and state agencies, research and academic institutions and NGOs, an official release said here today.

A reception committee with Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as Patron has been formed for the conduct of the four-day event from December 27, whose resolutions and recommendations will be vital for evolving the conservation initiatives in the country.

The meet would cover six important topics, including forest conservation, marine diversity, agricultural diversity and traditional knowledge.

Apart from presentations and discussions, there would be a biodiversity expo on the sidelines and road shows on the focal themes with the participation of farmers, students and environmental groups, the release said.
