Kerala Cartoon Academy today criticised the defacement of statue of renowned litterateur and cartoonist O V Vijayan, installed at a school in Kottakal in Malappuram district.
Protesting against the incident, the Academy said it would organise an exhibition of Vijayan's caricatures in the state.
Kerala government has still not bestowed the honour which Vijayan deserves, Academy Chairman, Prasannam Anmikkad said in a statement here.

The statue installed at the Rajas government High School at Kottakkal in Malappuram district, was found to be disfigured by some unidentified persons yesterday.
The installation of the statue at the school, where Vijayan once studied, had kicked up a controversy earlier with the Kottakkal municipality refusing to give sanction, stating that school authorities had not obtained prior permission.
The statue was later installed following the intervention of local MLA Abdusamad Samadani.
