Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today described as "very progressive" and "highly significant in contemporary times" the Supreme Court verdict that seeking votes on the ground of religion, race, caste amounted to "corrupt practice".
In a statement here, he said, "We cent per cent agree with the SC observation that election is a secular process and religion has no place in politics."
"Religion has no right to interfere in the political administration of a secular State. Those who had framed the Constitution had insulated religion from interfering in politics," the CPI(M) leader said.
