Defending girls champions Kerala began their campaign in style, thrashing West Bengal48-17 in the 42nd sub-junior national basketball championship, which began here today.
Krishna Priya top scored for Kerala with 18 points.
Last year's runners up Chhattisgarh also scored a comfortable victory defeating Delhi 89-36 led by Elizabeth Ekka, who netted 27 points.

In other matches, Tamil Nadu defeated Haryana 80-58. Pavithra Sre scored a game high 36 points for the winners while Maika did the bulk of scoring (32) for the losers.
Haryana team line up also featured Miraya Vadra, daughter of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Miraya did put her skills on display for limited minutes during the game. In the boys events, Tamil Nadu pipped West Bengal 84-79 in a cracker of a contest that ended after two extra time periods.
Tamil Nadu held their nerve in the final minutes to clinch the hard-fought victory relying on a balanced team effort led by Dhanush's 25 points.
Rajasthan boys team, which has Serbian Marko Zarkovic as the assistant coach, also began ona positive note with a 91-79 victoryover Andhra Pradesh.
Delhi and Punjab boys also picked up opening day victories against Tripura and Goa respectively.
