Kerala government today asked the Centre to immediately issue emigration clearance to those nurses who have obtained job visas legally and are not able to report for work in the Emigration Clearance Required (ECR) countries.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy made this request in a letter to Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Necessary steps should be taken to provide emigration clearance to nurses who are recruited through State Government run recruiting agencies like Norka-Roots, Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants and Overseas Manpower Corporation of Tamil Nadu by initiating discussions with the respective countries by the Indian Embassies, Chandy said.

As the Centre has made emigration clearance compulsory to 17 ECR countries from April 30, they are not able to report for work, he said.
Chandy also insisted that immediate action should be taken to blacklist the agencies involved in recruiting scams.
