Seeking to put behind the differences and controversies, Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala today welcomed the appointment of former Supreme Court Chief Justice P Sathasivam as the new Governor of the state.

"We fully welcome him as Governor. There is no place for any differences and controversies now," Chennithala told reporters when asked about the government's reaction on the new appointment.

"All controversies related to this ended now," he said. The Centre's decision to appoint the former Supreme Court Chief Justice had sparked a debate with Chennithala himself expressing reservation in the matter earlier.

KPCC President V M Sudheeran had termed as "improper" the Centre's decision to appoint a former Supreme Court Chief Justice as Governor.

65-year-old Sathasivam was appointed as the new Govenor after Sheila Dikshit resigned from the post on August 26.
