Kerala govt orders probe into boat tragedy

Kerala government today ordered a comprehensive probe into the recent boat tragedy in Kochi which claimed 11 lives.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala directed ADGP (South Zone) K Padmakumar to submit a comprehensive report on the tragedy to the government, an official release said.

The passenger boat, carrying about 35 people, was on its way from Vypin to Fort Kochi when it was hit by a speeding fishing craft at the harbour mouth on August 26.

Around 20 passengers were rescued and admitted to various hospitals.
