The Kerala High Court today directed the Land Revenue Commissioner to examine within two months whether the land on which Malayalam film actor Dileep has constructed a multiplex at Chalakudy belonged to the government.

The direction was issued by Justice P R Ramachandra Menon on a petition filed by Santosh of Paravoor.

The petitioner alleged that the actor has built the multiplex on 90 cents (one cent is about 450 sq feet) of land on a national highway at Chalakudy that belonged to the government.

The land was handed over to the government by the erstwhile royal family of Cochin without the right of sale or mortgage, the petitioner contended.
