Indian men's hockey team vice-captain and goalkeeper PR Sreejesh has been bestowed with the prestigious Lt Col GV Raja Award for the year 2014-2015, the by the Kerala Sports Council.
Besides the honour, Sreejesh will also be awarded a cash reward of Rs 3 lakhs.
It is the highest honour for any athlete in Kerala at the state level.

The award was given to the Sreejesh was Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
"This is a moment of pride and joy for me to be bestowed with such an honour. I would like to thank the Kerala Sports Council for considering me worthy enough of such a high honour. I hope I can keep up the good work and prove to be a source of inspiration for the upcoming athletes in the state," Sreejesh said about the honour.
Hockey India Secretary General Mushtaque Ahmad added: "Sreejesh has been a great asset for Indian hockey and he will be crucial for the upcoming Hero Hockey World League Finals (in Raipur) and many more years to come. This honour will prove to be a real confidence booster for him ahead of the premier tournament. This will also set an example amongst all other team members to strive for more.
