Kerala MPs told to press for railway projects

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said there should be a coordinated effort by MPs from the state to realise its railway development dreams.

He was speaking at the MP's conference, which began here today, as a prelude to the upcoming Parliament's winter session, a release said.

Besides pressing for the existing development projects, demand for new rail routes including the Sabari rail route should be intensified, the Chief Minister, who chaired the conference, said.

The Nilambur-Bengaluru rail route deserves special consideration. Besides this, more trains should also be allotted to the state, he said, adding that these should be gained through coordinated initiative of MPs from the state.
 

Besides the CM, his cabinet colleagues P K Kunhalikutty, Ramesh Chennithala, K Babu, Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash, Anoop Jacob, C N Balakrishnan, Aryadan Mohammed and Manjalamkuzhi Ali and higher officials, including Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson were present during the meeting.
