Kerala reconstitutes NRK body Norka Roots

Kerala Government has reconstituted its non Resident Keralites welfare agency Norka Roots with leading NRI entrepreneurs and professionals as directors of the body, headed by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Leading Gulf-based businessman M A Yusuf Ali is its Vice- Chairman and Dr Azad Moopen, Ravi Pillai, C T Kuruvila, C K Menon, Dr M Anirudhan, Alexander Adakkedath and Ismail Rowthar have been nominated as board members, an official release said here today.

The field agency of the Non-Resident Keralites Department, Norka Roots plays a key role in working out policies and strategies for the welfare of non-resident Keralites, supporting them in times of need.
 

On being appointed to the body, Dr Moopen said in Dubai that "there is a huge population of Keralites living in the Gulf, away from their homes and families. NORKA-Roots is a wonderful initiative of the Kerala government that ensures non-resident Keralites are taken care of while outside the country and their needs are met with."

He said the agency would also propel Kerala to even greater heights by channelising investments and resources in the most beneficial manner.
