Kerala, TN qualify for Vijay Merchant Trophy

Kerala and Tamil Nadu today qualified for the All India Vijay Merchant Trophy after earning 17 points each at the end of the fifth and final round of the South Zone Under-16 cricket round robin tournament here today.

Tamil Nadu thrashed Karnataka by an innings and 113 runs in the final round today, while Kerala drew with Andhra.

Spinner M Siddarth of Tamil Nadu had a match haul of 13 wickets after conceding 68 runs and was key in hosts' victory today by scalping four Karnataka wickets for 44 runs.

Replying to Tamil Nadu first innings total of 356 for nine declared, Karnataka, who made 117 all out, was dismissed for 126 in their second innings.
 

On the third day final day of the final round, Kerala drew with Andhra (first innings 94 all out), who were 186 for four in 62 overs in their second innings to Kerala's (first innings 228 all out) 170 for 5 declared.
