Kerala to set up company for waste management

The decision was taken as corporations and municipalities were not being able to carry out waste management work properly, an official statement said tonight.

Local Self-Governance department Principal Secretary, and Urban Affairs Director would be appointed as the first directors of the company.

The last budget had set apart Rs 10 crore out of the Rs 40 crore estimated to be required for an effective system of waste management in urban areas, the release said.
