Kerala to withdraw hiked stamp duty rates

Kerala Finance Minister T M Thomas Issac today informed the assembly that hiked stamp duty rates and registration fees to 3 per cent in the last budget for settlement, partition an release deeds among family members would be withdrawn.

Issac made the announcement while concluding the debate on motion for reference to subject committee of the Kerala Finance Bill 2016.

The new rates for the stamp duty rates and registration fees for settlement and partition deeds among family members would be decided by the subject committee, Issac said.

Later the house referred the Finance Bill 2016 to the subject committee.
 

The LDF government had come under attack from Opposition Congress led UDF and BJP for increasing the stamp duty and registration for partition deeds.
