US Secretary of State John Kerry is looking forward to his trip to Pakistan, his spokesperson said refuting Pakistani media reports that he might not be visiting the country soon.

"Secretary Kerry will go to Pakistan, and we'll look for a date. We don't have one to announce yet, but he looks forward to it," said Patrick Ventrell, State Department spokesperson.

"We said at the time he wasn't able to make it on this trip because of timing, but he looks forward to having an appropriate time to spend a good, significant portion of time in Pakistan and meet with the leadership and society," he said.

Kerry, who was initially scheduled to go to Pakistan along with his just concluded trip to India postponed his visit because he wants to spend more time in Pakistan, where he went on several firefighting missions in the first term of the Obama administration.

Notably the United States had not made an official announcement earlier. It was the Pakistani officials who had told local media that Kerry would be visiting Pakistan along with India.

"Kerry was unable to make it on this trip. You know that he very much wants to go there and spend enough time there, have an appropriate window of time to spend in Pakistan. He looks forward to it," Ventrell said.
